Surprise....a day at the Zoo!

A year ago we planned to go camping and water rafting up at Jackson, Wyoming for this week (June 11th-14th). Then we were blessed to have Eliza and we decided Jesse would take the older two and I would stay home with Eliza and Madison. Earlier this week the weather started to show that it was going to be a bit chilly in Jackson. Then this morning we discovered that is was snowing in Jackson! Needless to say, Jesse canceled the trip--he was so sad to miss out on rafting down the Snake River but not so sad to camp in below freezing weather! So we made a last minute decison and surprised the kids with a trip to the Denver zoo! We had an awesome time together. Fun memories!

-Eliza's first trip to the zoo (she wore her "lion" outfit, the same outfit Madison wore for her first trip to the zoo)

-Savannah eating cotton candy--what a sticky mess!

-Madison obsessed with her zoo map--"Where's my map!"

-Hunter wanting to watch the seals and sea lions all day--his favorite animals this trip

-Hearing the kids laugh as Jesse does a voice-over for an elephant eating his lunch

-Hunter being pecked at by a strange looking bird at the African petting zoo

-Savannah announcing over the microphone that it was penguin o'clock to the crowd waiting for the penguin show

-Madison finally being able to see the penguins--"I wanna see the penguins!" (we heard this after seeing every animal on the way to the penguin house)

-Watching the kids so excited while riding the carousel

-Hearing my kids say "Wow, that was really fun! Thanks Mom!" as we drove home!

Here is a slideshow of our day!
